Orphan brothers are featured this month in our October 2020 Calendar of HOPE. The boys attend the Quarry School and are caught in a vicious cycle of poverty, hunger, hopelessness and risk. While the Quarry School has been a life raft for them and a path to a better future, the pandemic closures have once again thrown another barrier up and created more chaos in the cycle of despair they face each day. With the school closed, their one safe haven is also gone.
Project HOPE continues in these uncertain days to feed at-risk women and children while the world awaits an answer for the virus. Inflation and shortages have significantly impacted access to basic food resources like mealie meal for the widows and orphans. We have been funding the purchase of rice, mealie meal and other staples in bulk which are then repackaged and distributed to those who are starving.
Next up, since it is planting season, Project HOPE is financing the rental of farm land and purchasing seed and fertilizer in bulk. Through the leadership of our project partners, the vulnerable can plant crops for hopefully what will be a bountiful January harvest to offset the lack of food resources.
Please consider helping us today. Every gift right now for Project HOPE is saving lives. Help us keep the brothers and many others fed during these challenging times. Your donation today will give HOPE.
