After the rather long commute from Kitchener Waterloo Region to Zambia via Dubai, Project HOPE Executive Director Christopher Graves arrived safely in Lusaka. The twenty-two hour flight time all worthwhile as he has hit the ground running and started on Day One of this tour meeting with Violet who cares for the orphans at the Quarry School.
Now 76, Violet does an amazing job of keeping the school running juggling not only her own poor health and eyesight but also manages the teachers and orphans who are at the school. Current challenges include securing regular wages for the teachers, finishing the water connections and pump for secure and sanitary conditions as well as building a kitchen to feed all the kids.
Stay tuned for more updates about how you can help. Journey along with us as we walk the villages over the next few weeks and connect with our community here in Zambia!
