School is soon back for students across Canada and in Chipata, Zambia, Project HOPE partners Geoff and Martha Muvumbo will be once again offering business education training for widows in their community. The popular week long sessions give women the ability to learn how to create and manage a home based business. With this knowledge, and seed money provided by Project HOPE, the widows then can launch their ideas and become self-sustaining. Pictured above are the participants from the Spring 2023 session along with Martha Muvumbo (front and centre).
With the positive impact of this training, Geoff and Martha have added this Fall session for the overwhelming number of women who have asked to be afforded this opportunity. Sadly, the compounds surrounding Chipata are packed with too many widows who have little hope of any future beyond poverty so this education brings real change.
The week long training includes basic banking, book keeping and business management. The participants learn about different businesses that they may consider starting from small shops, raising chickens to sewing and piece work to establish ongoing revenue for themselves. The seed money provided by Project HOPE is an ignition investment to start their enterprise. Monthly check ins help with further support.
Your gift of $100 can provide this seed money for a widow’s new home based business. The goal is to sponsor 25 women – $2500 required to fund this cohort. Please consider giving today. Your donation will give a widow hope and help her become self-sustaining!
